Silly question about training...
If I go to the gym early in the morning on an empty stomach & burn say 500 calories then go about my diet for the rest of the day, how does that work? Is it not better to do training after tea time when I been eating all day(diet).
I just cant get my head around how training in the morning then eating meals the rest of the day would work? dont I need food/calories in me first before burning it off?
See told you it was a silly question!

I train in the morning on an empty stomach for my cardio as this increases your fat burning potential or so i been told.
You should structure your diet around your training and whatever your aims of training are so you'd prob need to be bit more specific. i always found it better to train then eat ie if i train in morning i find that i recover better with eating the rest of the day however different people find different things work

You will still have glycogen stored in your muscles from the day before so it's no big deal. Its done predominantly for losing bodyfat, if you are training for just fitness or mma or whatever then of course you want to have a good bit of carbs in ya for energy. For example doing a hard muay thai class on a morning on an empty stomach is not such a good idea as youre gonna be weak as piss and you would probs risk burning prescious muscle tissue.
However if losing weight is your only goal then I think it's a pretty good idea.

thanks for the reply guys. I am doing it for fat loss but also a little muscle gain to. I have been given a very good low fat high protien diet from someone on this board so I dont think training in the morning will affect my muscles.
cheers.

Someone told me that any calories burnt in the morning on an empty stomach are effectively "worth double" because it raises your metabolism for thr rest of the day?
Is this anywhere near true?
