Just wanted peoples opinions on when they stop drinking alcohol prior to a fight? and do you really think it makes a major difference (obviously not the week before)?

i jacked the drink in 3 years ago, it makes it hard on nites out but im better for it.
ANGER IS A GIFT!
Try not to drink to excess anymore ever but a few pints with a meal is OK... Never drink at least 4 weeks before a fight
obviously you cant go out on benders and get pissed with your mates, but then again you dont go eating mcdonals, curries and sweets etc either.
its all about sacrafice, i just dont go out 8 weeks upto a fight so there is no need to drink, but the odd glass of wine with a good meal is no harm...imho
if you think its easy stop now
no one achieved anything by doing nothing

if fighting is a pursuit rooted in pain, you will find the best teachers have often absorbed the most punishment themselves......and remained standing

Alcohol is (generally) pretty high in calories too, so presumably you wouldn't want to disrupt your weight cutting/loss/optimisation leading up to a fight either.

I try to stop 6 weeks before but make the mistake of still going out at the weekend. Its hard when all your friends are going on at you, who then turn into drunken idiots and you feel like the ' sensible' odd one out.
I think 3 weeks is ample, as long as your training hard still and your nutrition is good. If it directly effects your training then obvisly it is bad but i find a sat night out drinking followed by a full day of rest on sunday and im fine for hard training again by monday.
Doesn't alchol hace close to zero calories in it? I thought it was the hops etc in beer or the mixer with spirits that were the main source of the calories?
