    Default 2008 Welsh Open (BJJ) - 30th March, Cardiff

    The first ever Welsh Open will be held in Newport on 30th March.

    Venue;
    Pillgwenlly Millennium Centre
    Courtybella Terrace
    Pillgwenlly
    Newport
    South Wales
    NP20 2GH

    Categories will be as per standard CBJJ weights.

    Entry fee is £20 and the event will start at 10:30am.

    I probably won't be fighting in this one as I'll be helping out with organisation/scoring etc. Not sure.

    Chris Rees and the Swansea boys organised the recent Cage Rage Contenders, which was the best MMA event Wales has ever seen. Good to see they are using those same organisational skills to run a BJJ comp, would have preffered it if they had a no gi section. ;-((

    Its great that the Welsh scene is developing and I hope that this initiative gets the support it deserves.

    Shaky, weigh ins are with the gi - everything is as per CBJJ tournaments.

    Ozzie - glad you enjoyed Cage Rage Chris is hoping to run more events this year so keep looking out for updates. The Gracie Barra Swansea website is regularly updated with info.

    Very impressed with the professionalism of Chris and the boys and am really glad you are turning your attentions to developing grass root skills.

    The pricing is just right in my view and makes it accesible to all. I will be there and look forward to having a roll in Pyjamas.
