Help needed claiming from the royal mail!!

I bought some stuff off ebay and when i went to the post office to pick it up i was just handed an empty envelope in a plastic bag saying very sorry but your goods were damaged in transit!!

So has anyone made a claim against them for loss of goods? it was sent recorded delivery so i dont know if that will increase the insurance.

Also i may exagerate alittle what was in the package just to get the fuckers back and as they cant prove what was in the package i should be able to get away with it shouldnt i???

any help would be great.

I had something go missing in the post, I just had to complete a form I got from the branch and get the receiver to sign it as well as myself. I sent it off and they paid me the money, it was surprisingly quick as well.
