Default 6wks after ACL surgery, light rolling OK?

Guys anyone have a clue if its safe to start doing some light rolling for me?
It's been roughly 6 weeks since I had surgery and I can walk fine and don't have any pains anymore.

Anyone else had ACL reconstruction, how long did you guys wait?

i had acl reconstruction before an interest in mma but i would be staying away from anything that involved pressure rotating/twisting around my knee. my advice , its too early , it needs strengthening first with such things as good old fashioned leg curls..

I'm no expert on injuries or re-hab, but I would strongly suggest you start with a strengthening routine devised by a pro so you can rebuild in a controlled environment before you even start light rolling.

No its far from safe -FFS dont roll on it I'll post properly tomorrow re this topic as I have limited internet access at the mo - but however pain free it feels dont roll on it - Id personally go for nearer the 20wk mark even for light rolling because its unexpected not intended movements.

Have you not started physio for it yet??

one word dont! ive just had this injury 5 weeks ago nd ive just started my physio well not even started till tomorrorw due ti my leg getting infected pyshio told me people learn to walk agen thn think their big headed go into sports again and end up doing damage again. because your knee isnt used to twisting and turning so id advise you if u wanna stay safe id wait till pysio says so if not good luck having another op which will probably be more severe than what u started with.

    Good god man NO
6 week the tissue hasn't even died yet.
If you have a hamstring reconstruction of the ACL the time to heal will take at least 6 months. If you have had bone pattella bone it is slightly less.
What happens is from 6wks to 3 month the tissue that is used in the graph dies it is then replaced by Collagen fibrous tissue as it heals (Basically scars over). this takes about 6 month from the op. You feel good because the nerves have died and the swelling has gon down. It is probably at its weakest now.
You need a good rehab that will strentghen you hamstrings as they are the muscles that stop your fibula moving forward but you will also need work on the whole leg to ensure that the muscles are balanced.
As well you will need a lot of prio-preceptive work as you acl is a major carrier for priopriception and you need to rebuild your reflexes to avoid injury.
Finally you should go see a physio and get proper rehab.
It took me a 9 months to return to training and 15 to fight again.
Get a good support when you roll and make your opponents aware of it when you do get back until you are back as strong as you were before.
Good luck if you need specific rehab exercises PM me and i will send you some but i would rather you went to see a physion who can asses you as they will be able to diagnose as well as just give you information on rehab.
