Just one fight

I have a few years stand-up exeprience. There is an MMA club near me-how long would it take me to get enough ground skills? I'd like to have just one amatuer fight. Also what are the standard rules for a first time fight? Any different from standard pro MMA?

P.S Im guessing it would take a year at least to have the basics with the ground.

there are amateur interclubs and tournaments like quannum that have standard mma rules minus elbows on the ground and heel hooks for amateur, but for the most part (depending where you live), amateur rules will involve no headshots on the ground and some will involve none standing either.

as for the ground skills it is hard to say, you'd just have to go to a club and see how the coach thinks you're progressing, some learn quicker than others.
