    Default Knee popped out!

While doing some hang power snatches last night my right knee popped out leading to a collapse on the floor. Went straight back in and left only soreness (worse today!). But worried about it happening again (managed to stop weights landing on me!).

Any suggestions? Can anyone recommend some knee support? I often combine weights like this in a circuit (Crossfit style - so last night was run 400m, do 15 hang power cleans x5 circuits) so I can't be too heavily strapped.

Is neoprene the answer? Weightlifting style strapping?

Sounds like a torn miniscus (spelling?) this is what was happening to me started once every here and there then got more regular. My advice is dont leave it to long get some medical advice. I left mine and had surgery 3 months ago and still painful, swollen and no training! :-(

I've had knee surgery (MCL, Cartlege and a torn muscle (popiteus?... something like that)).

All was fine for a couple of years, but know my knee pops out 5-6 times a session. Pop it back in and get on with it

surgery to fix recurrent dislocation is pretty simple. recurrent dislocation will lead to arthritis earlier

you need to get that checked out properly asap.... you shouldn't be popping your knee doing hang cleans !!!!! that is a major red flag for some underlying pathology. if you carry on it could lead to a much more serious injury.

I understand. But I just don't have the time to be going in for surgery and then the recovery.

I think it may have been the power aspect of the hang cleans - the leaving the floor that added to the instability.

"Popped out" was probably an exaggeration but it definitely moved and led to me collapsing in a heap! I had keyhole surgery and some cartilage removed about seven or eight years ago but the knees been fine since.

I'm hoping it's a one off but the advice seems to be to get it checked out...?

Definitely get to a good physio or osteopath. Most knee problems will only get worse if you try to ignore them.
