Work are trying to shaft me as a result bizarly.. even though Im on a salary and would normally be paid on the salary regardless of abcence, they have deemed it acceptable to drop me to stat sick pay due to my ancence probably being due to excesive training? This is ridiculous as if I was off with an actual illness I would still be getting paid as normal. Needless to say I'll be going through the contract with a fine tooth comb to see where they have slipped up. Grrrrrr why didnt I say I was into golf or something im sure they wouldnt act the same way.

Having an op week tomorrow and prob off for 3 - 4 weeks. My boss told me not to rush back and make sure I was all fixed up!! ACE

I know a fat lazy bastard with sciatica... which is worse? Aggrevating it with exercise (in pursuit of fitness/health) or it occurring through laziness, being overweight and sedentary living.
Disgraceful... any good legal mind should be able to pull that to pieces (as long as your lawyer isnt a fat lazy bastard). Either that or go back to work and then next time your sciatica plays up have time off for stress instead. Tell your doc youve had headaches and nosebleeds and he'll sign you off for a few weeks!!!! Fuck them, they dont deserve honesty behaving like that.
'Depression' seems a popular excuse as well.

Haha you're right there will be no more honesty as far as they are concerned I'll be "playing the game" from now on until I leave... if they wanna play games like that I can take advantage of the law to the fullest extent and use all the time off I can get to get business off the ground. They have still rudely failed to reply to my email to them enquiring about this.. grrrrr

Oh bugger pins and needles you say... ive not had that bit yet..
Yeah I'd be interested as to what the chiripractor actually does with you eg excersises or whatever thay do as mine although was getting better slowly has decided to go back to how it was last week?? I think pain killers although go got given dehydocodiens by my doc are a bad idea as you might damage the nerve by doing something it doesnt wanna do... anyway please let me know mate.. very interested.. hope gets better soon )

I have a similar problem, had it a few years now and I just about manage the pain.I have regular pressure point/deep tissue massages as I get problems round my sacroilliac joint and hips which then goes right down my left leg. It's usually kicking and rolling that sets it off again and it's nasty. I take ibuprofen regularly which eventually gets rid of it. I did have some sessions with a tens type machine which helped short term but then it comes back again.
In my experience gp's are completely crap when it comes to lower back pain- mine just signed me off for a while from work and told me to stop training and I eventually got referred to physio- who told me to stop training as well.I didn't stop training (obviously) and had some sessions with this tui na guy instead. I also started taking Omega 3 oil which seems to have helped reduce the frequency of the attacks. I had scans on my back and hip which came back clear, so it's probably muscles/tendons that are knackered around the sacroilliac.
It's crap though and I feel your pain! Chiropractors aren't always the right answer, not from what I hear anyway.

OK had my treatment and am amazed first off when i walked into the practise and filled out the forms i wasnt very confident as my pain has been getting worse, he sat me down asked me general questions about my health etc then told me from what i do as my day job etc what he thinks has happened to my back,
Now as im an hgv driver my s shape in my back is over exagerated so he said, i took my top off and he could see that straight away,
now this is the best bit i was led down on the bed my left foot was relaxed to the left he took it in turns to bend my right leg up and to the side then the same to the opposite leg he noticed that when the left leg was bent and pressure applied my back lifted off the bed, his words were youve had either a fall or a right leg injury resulting you twisting your pelvis hence your left foot leans to the left when relaxed, 3 years ago i was in an amatuer mma tornament when i dislocated my knee badly!!!!Now the treat ment lasted 30 mins and to be honest scared the shit out of me, i led on my right side first with my hands gripped together he put his groin over my legs and pushed down while pushing on my bicep the other way(hard to describe) i thought he broke my back at first because the noise it made!! He then did the same the opposite side.
I then sat up with my hands across my chest he bear hugged me told me to take a deep breath relax and breath out this cracked the middle and upper of my spine,
I led on my stomach and he began turning my head side to side then he turned it more firmly and this caused a hell of a crack at which point he asked if i get alot of headaches as this can cause it if not treated.
he finished with a massage and found a huge knot in my gluteas or something like that(arse cheek muscle) he used one of those electric pulse things,
anyway i can now walk almost properly he did say that the nerve will take time to heal and im booked in for another session next monday,
it cost £40 for the initial consultation and £30 there after he showed me certain things i can do with my truck seat to prevent it happening again and how my missus can massage me properly in the area that is weak and my next session he said he will inform me how to do certain exercises to strenghthen my back, just a pointer he said cleaning the car was just the tip of the ice berg and normally a back injury stems from something that could have happened along time ago.
If anyone wants his number just pm me, he is located in newport south wales.
Hope this helps anyone as i know how bad the pain is and how inedequate some doctors are.
