Default The old days of UK MMA

What you you guys remember from the early days of UK MMA???

Which fighters / trainers stand out and why? What events clearly stand from the others in the old days????

    What memories stand out most???

From the top of my head.... Lee Hasdell's Total Fight Nights, Phil Norman knocking out Tony Somers (one of Geoff Thompson's lads) with a vicious high kick, meeting and training with Lee Hasdell.

Alex Evans destroying virtually everyone and at one point was ranked as the best middleweight in the UK.

Danny Batten's war with Neil McLeod at one of Andy Jardine's Millenium Brawl events.

Mark Day breaking Jawad Khan's leg with a Heel Hook at Lee Hasdell's Night of the Samurai event - this was a jiu-jitsu match in a cage.

Lee Murray knocking out Pele - I forget the name of the event but it was one the London Shoot boys promoted....

Wow - I could go on and on.... Your turn guys!!!

bloody hell Jogs i remember all of them.

a few things that stand out for me are:

Battens wars with McLeod and Salhan.

Chris Bacon making Lee Murrays face look like mince meat.

Millenium Brawl 4 when the French came over, the atmosphere was unbelievable.

Andy Cooper Vrs Michael Johnson a 3 round war.

Chris Milward showing Judo does have a place in MMA.

Lee Murray Koing that dude in 4 seconds.

    Jon Thorpe looking unstoppable.

i could go on all day....

im not as old school some, only really been around the scene since 02/03 (ish). Some memories that stick out:

fighting ian margerisson on the first (?) cagewarriors event at gangwarily leisure centre in southampton somewhere.

when cagewarriors was a "down south" show instead of an "oop north" show

cage rage events at cesars palace. long days for me getting there early to help put dougies cage up at the venue and then not getting home till 2/3/4am after taking it down again

gconn and graham day going balls out for 3 rounds and the eventual winner day puking in his trophy as he left the cage

    ross pettifer leg break

de souza vs attalla at the first fcfn

The $1000 Iron Man Sub Wrestling Open. What an awesome event that was. Some seriously good grapplers in that. I remember some Greek dude and I think Danny Battan almost kicking off. I also remember Moise Rimbon (if memory serves) K.O some poor dude with a 1-2 and then realising what he had done. His face was priceless.

    Dont mess with the voodoo.

That is the one and only time I have ever seen that done.

Did the Greek dude go on to do anything else? What about that giant Adrian Alionte? Wonder what he is doing now?
