    Default wrist pain

    I am having a hell of a lot of wrist pain at the moment. After weights or the heavy bag I can't even pick up a saucepan to cook my grub! The pain is pretty much constant but anything at the moment makes it real bad.

    Any advice on stuff to take or do to help?

    cant go wrong with glucoasmine sulphate and msm, certainly wouldnt do any harm, if it was me i would be taking this stuff twice a day and try and rest for a week, certain you would see an improvement.

    Its more likely deep bruising and i think only really rest and anti inflammatories will help. If it is from straining the wrist back or forward then the above will help though.

    The problem with asking this type of question on an internet forum is that it's really impossible to give much good advice without looking properly at the injury.

    Glucosamine and fish oils won't do any harm and may help with any inflammation that's going on. It could take a few weeks to notice the effects though. Icing the injury after training may also help (5-10 minutes, repeat every hour or two) and if it's been going on for a while then contrast bathing (bucket of very cold water / bucket of warm water, alternate between them, couple of minutes in each, three or four times, starting and finishing with cold) may be worth a shot.

    As to what's actually causing the pain - you'll need to take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

    Wrist pain can be difficult to deal with.
    I know a number of people with wrist pain from eskrima and tennis who swear by Phiten wrist bands:

    I always wear one and recommend them to people who have this type of problem.

    Wrist pain is difficult to deal with because all the nerve fibres going to your hands and fingers travel through your wrist (through the carpal tunnel) and any damage or swelling in this area can cause impingement.

    Glucosamine and chondroitin are best used as a health maintainance product, not as a cure.

    Go and have someone look at it.
