Hmmm people talk about freedom of speech and the freedom in a democracy for such parties as the BNP, but I can't imagine freedom of speech remaining if the BNP did ever gain more power (which quite frankly I can't see ever happening).

Don't be so sure. Tough times ahead means people will look for someone to blame. If the BNP can appeal to enough people with the fear/ revenge angle.. Its happened before.
Hopefully by then Wales will be a free republic and we will scoff at you extreme right wing nutters

Today on the news Borris had a great idea (I know..) basically he said why not give sanctuary to long standing immigrants and get them to pay taxes. They are here anyway. So why not have them contribute? Of course the worry is that they will all just sign up lol.

slightly off topic, but i thought by international law, we couldnt have any genuine asylum seekers in this country anyway. theyre supposed to claim asylum in the first safe country the pass through, so we could only have asylum seekers here from spain, france, belgium etc.

some of the ones comeing here from afganistan or iraq have to pass about a dozen countries or so.

So do you think we should take away free speach to prevent the loss of free speach?

This is a democracy, if we vote in the BNP we have made our beds, we must lie in it.

The Magna carter which would have offered some protection has been hacked away by the mainstream parties, not the BNP.

Our unwritten constitution has never been solidified despite many years of mainstream political rule.

Oh yeah I agree with that. I just think it's a shame that people end up voting for them for the wrong reasons. The BNP bosses are intelligent people and pray on people's concerns without explaining what their fundamental views are. I honestly don't think that many of the people who vote for them realise what giving them power would do.

I'm all for free speech and yes, everyone should have a platform, but the BNP just make me nervous to the core.

Yep, your future is in the hands of the people of this country....how many idiots do you meet every day?...Scarey stuff.

Something that should be concerning us more than the possiblity of future BNP is what is actually happening:
-We currently have a nationalised "superbank"
-Right wing supporters are being purged from the civil service
-There are plans to make people work for the benefits...state subsidized industry.

LOL, do you give up your right to vote when you enter the civil service? Either they can support any party or no party. To be honest the civil service has only got a political allegance to themselves anyway.

I work in local government, it's pretty hard to remember I have to be politically neutral when dealing with certain parties.
