    Default Gave up kung fu

Well as of last night I no longer do kung fu. I was thinking about quitting anyway but classes have stopped so I didn't have to take the decision. Since I started other training I have become less inclined to believe in the system, especially the one I was doing.

I can now focus on muay thai and mma. Feels a bit odd though leaving something behind .I have been told it's given me a solid grounding anyway and it got me into martial arts, which can only be a good thing.

Anyone want a nice selection of lovely sating sashes?

Did you not find the things you were learning in Kung Fu conflicted with what you learn in Muay Thai? the stance is often different and Kung Fu doesn't seem to focus on having a tight guard.

are you going to use the extra time to do more Muay Thai?

Yeah,I mean luckily my kung fu teacher was open minded but it did start getting to me. I started losing interest in the syllabus stuff such as the line work and forms. I also kept getting confused between kicks, with my more flicky kung fu kick and yeah with my guard too.
Unfortunately I go to all the mt classes there are in my area, which is 3 a week, and mma once a week.Would go to more mma but the times conflict.Either going to spend more time in the gym or get out doing interval training and stuff.

In the long run it'll probably prove a blessing in disguise that the classes have stopped.

that's a shame that the class times clash, but if you use the time to do some fitness work it'll prove more beneficial than the Kung Fu anyway

seems like your training a lot, do you or are you intending to fight?

Yeah, I stopped doing Kuk Sool to focus on MMA. Enjoyed it while it lasted but as I did more MMA I became more combat inclined. Did learn some flashy kicks though, which is always fun pulling off in sparring.

Start doing some form of specific grappling. That will be of most benefit to you imo.

Try to think less about the leaving something behind. Think more about the fact that you've taken a step forward.
