Thumbs up U.M.A. Championship Event Calender 2009

This year, the U.M.A. are Hosting and Organising both Regional and National Championship Events, and there is also a 2 Day International Championship Event in May.

There is something for everyone in the Grappling and Amateur M.M.A. Players:

    Amatuer M.M.A.
    No Gi Groundfighting
    With Gi Groundfighting
    No Gi Grappling
    With Gi Grappling
Back to Back Ne Waza (Judo Groundfighting)
High Kneeling Ne Waza (Judo Groundfighting)
    Judo
    Junior Championship Events
    Senior Championship Events

Take your pick, its a Grapplers and Amatuer M.M.A. Players fest of top quality Championship Events for 2009.

All National Championship Events for 2009 will be held at the Moorways Sports Centre in Derby, the Facilities are excellent, and we can now run on up to 4 x 8 meter square competition areas, with bleacher seating for over 1,000 people.

We have and still are investing heavily in the Grappling and now the M.M.A. Arts, now all we need is your support to continue to provide Top Quality Championship Events for everyone.

We now have the backing and support of the G.A.A, too, they now provide the U.M.A. with the facility to offer Non U.M.A. and even Non G.A.A. Members, infact anyone Optional Competitor Insurance at all and for all U.M.A. Championship Events.

If you are already a current G.A.A. Member, then you are already covered for all or any of the U.M.A. Championship Events.

Hopefully, we will contiunue to have everyones support here on Cage Warriors

Check out the U.M.A. Website and the Events Calender for all details and updates etc: www.umauk.co.uk or feel free to contact me at: uma@umauk.co.uk.

I will let others on this forum who have attended any of our Championship Events answer this one.

But just to give you a heads up etc, there has never been one U.M.A. Championship Event that has run past 5.00pm ever, and there are no vague hopes either at our Championships, everyone entered has competed, and we do have different registration and weigh in times too...

i would go to one of these events if they used proper scoring and start from the feet

i dont like the your only allowed to be on one knee while passing the guard .......Im interested in the nogi at derby in may-- but cant find what rules you will be using....... i see your grappling rules on your site allow takedowns

    thanks

The U.M.A. use a scoring system which has been developed and refined over the last 3 years to date due the Championship Events we have held and the improvements made based on our experiences, help and advice etc, running our succesful Championships each year to date, we keep the rules pretty plain and simple and as uncomplicated as possible, but hey if you don't like groundfighting and the rules we use, then no probs, its horses for course, we know we can't and won't please everyone, but hey, your input is greatly appreciated, so thanks, you can check out our Groundfighting and Grappling rules Gi and No Gi etc, from the UMA Website: http://www.umauk.co.uk/U.M.A._Tournament_Rules.htm

the nogi is under groundfighting rules
and the Gi comp is under grappling rules
