Default Nerve injury ? Can Rosi, Smiler, or anyone help?

Hope someone can help. I am getting more depressed by the day !

When rolling got kimura-ed. Tried to tap but missed as my training partner moved position. End result shoulder injury (did not seem too bad). Trained next few weeks, then ended up with knot in my trap. Index finger went numb.

Been to physio last few weeks, knot gone, but finger still numb. I can train with weights no problem, all exercises, but when I attempt to bench press cannot even press an empty bar - not really any pain just no strength (no way that my muscles have shrank and weakened to this degree) Can a knot pressing on nerve cause this ? My questions are:

Any views on what this is ?

How long to heal ? (cannot go to my usual physio at the moment - cannot get time off work)

Are my weights aggravating this (I am not strong, so do not use really heavy weights - I squat with bar on trap area - but no pain at all) ?

Could this last for months ? ( I have not been able to roll for four weeks now)

Will ice help to heal ?

    Thank you.

ive had a very similar problem since 2004...neck got cranked..damaged nerves in neck..c5..c6 ive got pain down shoulder arm forearm..fingers are numb...pain is generally terrible most of the time..had muscle wastage..and like u cudnt bench even a bar when i did it..its about 50 percent better..ive seen dozens of physios..i have little to no lat on the right hand side..and lots of other muscle wastage problems..and strength issues..still got pain..numbness..tingling...but its better than what it was..massage seems to help..you will need to get the nerve impingment seen too and treated immediatly..other wise ul end up with problems for a long while..when a nerve gets trapped for a certain period of time..theres a possibility that blood flow..nutrients and signals for the brain are stopped and the nerve will no longer function and cannot ever be corrected once this happens..get treatment

Thanks for that for that - I really appreciate it.

What do they do to treat nerve impingement ?

    Many thanks.

    Hi Michael

It's difficult to give you a specific answer for an individual problem without seeing it. Where are you based? Depending on where you are, I may be able to recommend someone.

    Rosie

I am in the North East. When I originally got the numb finger (and knot) went to my physio. At that point, in agony elbow are very painful ( pain all the way down arm). Physio resulted in huge improvement. Last went to physio two weeks ago if improvement had continued I should have been fine by now ( I could not go to physio anyway for the las two weeks - working non stop at the moment).

Two weeks later I feel great - apart from the numbness and the "bench press thing". Obviously, working on the assumption that I should not strike or roll until this is OK.

I am starting to panic a bit that it might never go away. I feel as though it is possible if something eases (like put ice on it) - it might "magically" go away overnight. The "bench press thing" applied to curls three weeks ago - but now I can curl no problem !

Leglocksrock described it perfectly - I really hope it is not as problematic as he has found it.

Thank you for taking time to reply to me ( I have read cagewarriors for two years, and only posted - in panic - today)

the numbness is not good and really needs to be sorted out to protect your long term health and to prevent any other problems that might occur in that area , is the circulation OK to your finger???

    Hi,

Good luck for a speedy recovery.

Think Rosi's got this one more than covered - if I remember at lunchtime I'll ask the army rehab guys for comment...
