Thinking of upgrading to a Saab - but I cannot make up my mind - anyone got/had one? Any thoughts? Expensive to buy parts etc etc?

With the current economic situation a lot of car manufacturers are having good deals on at the moment that they never normaly would, it may be worth doing a little more 'bargin hunting' than you normally would.....
Arent Saab about to go under?
Yeah. Their parent company is general motors and I think they were saying they weren't going to bail them out. Shame,Saab's are nice. Google it, there will be something somewhere.
Thanks will do! That has settled that one then! I bought a Rover as my first car and they went under a month later.
all the more reason to buy a SAAB then, wait for a little while longer until they go under or have a massive reduction in their prices, if GM drop them it wont matter to you, if they go under it wont matter to you, why? because there will be a massive amount of cars coming through the breaker network in future for parts, body shops can fix panels and german and sweedish or euro car parts can supply everything you may need outside of that. furthermore, there are saab servicing specialists outside the main dealer networks, and even better than that, as the car gets older you wont have any concerns about taking it to a mainstream garage.
BUY BUY BUY and save a fuckload of cash is my advice.
PS> Saab's share parts with teh vectra/insignia parts bin from vauxhall who are all GM owned.
Final thought: people still manage to keep classic cars on the road made by companies that have long since died, you will probably change the car inside of 3-5 years anyway. so here and now, wait a bit, save the cash if they crash and when the time is right buy the biggest spec engine one you can get with all the toys for skoda fellatio money, spend some of that money you saved on an LPG conversion for £1800 and you can bang about with V6 twin-turbo power at 50p a litre on LPG, reduced road tax that flaunts the VED increases and no cocngestion charge in london...
Cha-Ching....
Sorry for the lecture, I know waaaay too much about cars to not jump all over this! lol
we had a newish 93 at my dealership before i left, absolutely beautiful, real quality feeling car and lee's advice is pretty spot on
man, when you're the nail, hang in there....until the day you become the hammer
ive got a couple of brand new saabs at our place, they're really nice cars. as that other fella said, wait till they go under and get a brand newey on the cheap. the parent company has to provide spares for so long anyway by law, so dont worry about that
