the only hotel i can find for the night i arrive in (the 25th) is the bewleys hotel at the airport. How long do you reckon it would take to get from there to the sports center? can it be done by taxi or what would be my best bet?

Have you tried Merchants Hotel in the City Centre? Really good rates & it's about 15 minutes walk to Sugdens. Alternatively, Hatters Hostels are clean and in the centre too.

In honesty, the airport isnt where you want to be if you need to be in the City Centre fairly early on a Sunday. You'll be paying less at Merchants/Hatters and it's walking distance.
