    Default Swimming and health

I have heard that there are potential health issues with swimming in local pools etc due to chlorine. Now over time I have really grown to trust the views of this forum so I am just wondering if there is any reason to believe this or is it a load of BS?

I started getting eye infections when I started swimming again as you shouldn't wear contact lenses when swimming, but I had also started grappling at a similar time so it could have been that.Saying that though,I did quit swimming and haven't had an eye infection since.
I personally hate the smell of swimming pools but I think they are pretty safe .

Any ozone pools around where you are?

Swimming is good for active recovery, also really good cardio (deep water running) and helps realign fatigued muscles.

    I would recommend it.

Don't drink the whole pool at once and you'll be fine!

I think that it depends on how well run the pool is where you are. I used to work around pools and saw some of the stuff that went on in there. In my experience, private seems to be a little safer but even this could vary from building to building. My reasons are that I've seen private pools run a lot more efficiently in general and also the people who use them seem to be a little healthier and less disease ridden than in the average council run establishment.
The council seems to also be governed by the council which leaves a lot of play in how tight that ship is run.
