    Default Grapple & Strike Tourny - Prize money for section winners

    CCA are holding a tournement at their gym in Hartlepool,

    Closed Combat Arena Academy,
    George Street,
    Hartlepool,
    Sunday May 31st 2009
    01429 298436

    9:30am onwards

    This will be a grapple and strike tournement with 6 weight catagories as well as a category for 14 - 17 yrs,

    Prize money for winning each section is £100,
    All Fighters with no more than two semi professional fights are welcomed to this event,
    Show is being back back martial arts illustrated and shall be in next months issue,

    Weights are as follows:

    Under 63kg
    Under 65kg
    Under 70kg
    Under 75kg
    Under 80kg
    Over 80kg

    and a 14 - 17 yrs section, the winners will be paid £50 per section

    £10 to enter, should be a great day with some bouts taking place in the cage and some on the matted area,

    Rules are Amateur however light headshots are allowed whilst stood up (Anyone disobeying the light headshot rule will be immediatly disqualified)

    Open to all clubs, great event for first timers to have a go and £100 prize money to the lucky winners of each section,

    please change the name from grapple & strike as grapple & strike is a registered company.

    Look's awesome, I still don't see the point in light headshots though...

    I understand what your saying about the headshots, but the refereeing will be really strict making sure no-one breaks the rules, and wont be shy to DQ people

    its way easier to set up takedowns and stuff with headshots included, more feints etc... just makes things a bit more interesting than the usual amateur rules

    providing it works well we'll be holding more in future

    Its called 'control', if anything a competition like this will help fighters to control themselves when fighting as oppose to going out like a bat outta hell for every fight, keeping composed and thinking about a fight in a controlled atmosphere

    the way I see it, theres points and continous tae kwon do, kickboxing, karate, etc etc... most with limited contact so if it works well in these formats, why cant it work in MMA
