Aptly name it was. So after over four heavy drinking hours in the venue – not that the time factor in anyway excuses the reprobates that were involed in the riot – it was 11:15PM and only eleven of the seventeen fights had been completed. The venue got trashed beyond belief. What must have been the entire police force of several surrounding towns piled into and around the venue. Phoenix or for that matter any MMA are never likely to be using that venue again. The twelve most highly rated fighters there have all wasted what will total between them several years of training. Newspapers are going to have a field day. Everyone, fighters, spectators, promoters, present or not present that evening will be a loser.

I repeat, will everyone please do all they can to track down, bring to legal justice, and ban from MMA venues, those individuals that were responsible for the indescriminate violence"

Ok firstly I was reffing there last night so lets get the facts correct before things get out of context. Luke I do however agree with your points about the idiot's.
There were 500 people in the venue, I know this because I assisted the promoter. The incident started at 10.20 however that's irrelavant.
95% of the crowd are regulars who love the sport, and families regularly attend.
However I really could do with this post removing purely for the reason that seven of them arseholes are in police custody and interviews are on going.
However the main reason is I don't want the pricks getting the attention.
Let the police do their job and lets hope the idiots are quickly forgotten about and left to rot.

I feel a lot of the people who fight/train/follow MMA in this country give the reputation of the sport a very bad name.

Look at the Pro fighters in Japan, UFC, Brazil.... those at the top level are mainly gents who would distance themselves from any kind of trouble, bother, violence, shit like this etc.

In this country it's the total opposite, how many pro fighters often talk openly on here about there trials and tribulations with the law, getting into shit with the police, being in prison, getting arrested, getting into brawls on nights out, playing the hard doorman role in there sidejobs at weekends and knocking drunks out for virtually no reason etc etc... it's all bollocks.

The term proffessional MMA in this country leaves a lot to be desired and although I know i'll get a panning for saying this, I don't care.

I'm not the promoter but know him very well and can speak on his behalf. I was the ref and compere There was enough security there for this event I assure you but what the hell can you do against a BIG bunch of idiots who rain everything on the real supporters below. The security were straight in but were overpowered by a large gang of idiots who to be honest, knew exactly what they were doing and probably do it regular. They did throw a pool table over the balcony which stopped the rest of the security getting up the stairs and it was a large table, landing on the stairs blocking the whole area.The promoter & security then diverted the energy in keeping the real fans safe and got them out of the building.
Guys, this is a very serious incident with people in the cells already. I'd rather not give the arseholes the publicity.
Remove the thread for the sake of British mma, I'll be emailing all the promoters to warn against these fans. I feel for the fighters and coaches but to be honest they probably won't get to fight on a show outside of their home town again.

Exactly. They arent just random idiots off the street, the majority were probably heavily connected/mates with those who were fighting were they not?

This is one of the downsides to fightsports now. I have been to a few UK events where the vibe is very soccer thugish or gansta wannabe's.

It seems a certain element see 'Cage Fighting' as a perfect vehicle for legalised violence... It dosnt do it for me and now I tend to avoid many events.

Whats the solution?

i dont agree with the "dont give them publicity".
these sort of scumbags arent after publicity, they're just cunts plain and simple. we shouldnt ignore it for the sake of "not giving them attention", quite the opposite. these cunts should be named and shamed, banned from any future events and made unwelcome in british mma from here on.
deleting threads and not talking about the incident will only work towards forgetting it, and , inevitably letting these scummy cunts get away with it. the justice system is a joke, no doubt they'll walk free. lets not make the same mistake eh, instead of covering up and hiding the incident, name and shame the scum and let them receive their dues....
