    Default MMA Rules

    Hi,
    Can anyone shed any lights regarding the different rules at different competiton levels. For some reason my computer isnt allowing to use the search tool, so sorry if this has been covered already, which im sure it has been.

    Cheers

    Pro MMA: most things are legal except the stuff you'd expect to be banned (biting, eye gouging, groin shots, strikes to the spine/back of the head, spiking etc). Other things which are illegal on some shows are;

    Elbows - ground and standing
    Elbows - ground only
    Heelhooks - normally under "B class" pro rules

    Semi-pro: as pro but with no strikes to the head on the ground. Some shows call it semi-pro, others call it "B class pro" or "Level 2" etc...

    Amateur: two major variations basically, one is pro but with bigger gloves (possibly shorter and fewer rounds). The other type is no head shots at all and more than likely no neck-cranks or heelhooks.

    Basically, they all vary dependant on the promotion. It's best to look up the rules for each which should be on their website but may well not be!
