    Default British Open Results

    The British Open was a great tournament, superbly organised and the biggest yet in the UK with around 700 entrants.

    Results can be found here

    Feel free to post pics/vids/experiences from the event.

    Some of those are wrong though, a corrected and better ordered (i.e. in gold, silver, bronze order) list can be found here;

    First BJJ comp - Got there before 9am - didnt fight til after 5pm! by then I couldn't be arsed! Lost by a few points!

    Would have been good to have known the fight schedule a few days or even the day before.

    Other than that - impressive competition.

    That's always a problem at BJJ tournaments, it helps having your own transport so you can arrive when you like, taking plenty of food so you don't have to rely on shit sandwiches (or 6 cups of acai at £5 each) also helps.

    It is a complete pain having to spend the whole day somewhere before fighting, learning how these things run and how to minimize the hassle is a large part of optimising your performance.

    To be fair to the organisers the schedule was out the day before and it was pretty much adhered to on the day.

    Yeah, in a perfect world it would have been good to have the schedule earlier but;

    - I know the organisers tried their best to make it happen, but some problems caused a delay.

    - They did have a time schedule, which is more than most comps normally do in my experience!

    - They stuck to the schedule (possibly 5-10 mins out), which is very impressive and something I've never seen happen before at such a large comp.

    I'm glad you added the "at such a large comp" to the end of that

    What is Acai and why is being sold at a BJJ competition?

    I know I could google it but that would defeat the purpose of me asking the question.

    It's always going to be difficult finding 10+ top quality refs.

    Definitely an area that needs some improvement, some sort of training programme required to develop new refs.
