    Default WTF is this.....

Got a leaflet though the post for the following competition:

    http://www.malympex.com/competitions.htm

Note there is a link for "MMA" and it states on the leaflet that there is a catagory for MMA. Sounds good, eh? I thought it might be an interesting AM competition for some of the new guys....

Here's the MMA link to the rules.... enjoy:

    http://www.malympex.com/Malympex%20D...MA%20Rules.pdf

To sum up some of the interesting rules...

    No bare chests
Gum Shield is an optional piece of safety equipment
Senior bouts are 2 x 2mins (!), with an additional 2 min round if a draw. There is a fourth 1min round if it still a draw after the 3rd... the refree will decide the winner if it goes the distance
They have their own weigh catagories, but if you are over 40.. ITS OPEN WEIGHT!
All stikes are LIGHT CONTACT only
Submissions are to be SQUEEZED on, not wrenched on

I expect to see more of this, as Trad arts and organisations attempt to 'cash in'.

Basically this is PC MMA. Two fighters compete with the single intent of not hurting each other over a maximum of 7 minutes..... and the media says that MMA is a bloodsport!

lol.. I would have already started my jouney home with her underwear tucked in pocket within that time frame.

The prices they are charging is going to make them some money. Problem is when the competitors start chatting about how they won an MMA comp and think this is the way forward. its not good 'playing' MMA

Light contact?? What a crock of shite.....

You're gonna get loads of TMA guys entering this, having a couple of 'touchly feely' rules MMA matches (can't say fights), and then promote themselves as having fought MMA.... They are taking advantage of the popularity of MMA for their own financial gain... The TMA guys obviously know MMA is getting more and more popular, so rather than train and fight real MMA they set up their own event with rules my 1 year old son could compete in and win....

I think the only solution is for a few guys on here to enter and SMASH these people and make them think twice about taking advantage of MMA for their own personal gain....

How funny would it be to have 'real' MMA fighters enter this and start going in hard. They say that people can't enter if they have had over 3 "Professional MMA fights"... but as this is an ungoverned sport, defining a "professional" fight isn't easy.

lol... imagine the shock on their faces as keylocks are ragged on, double legs are slammed to the mats and people are choked out cold
