Default What Gi and Where to get it

I realise I may be 10 years too late with this thread.
I'm looking to buy a Gi that I can use for BJJ and maybe Judo.

I have read a lot about the Koral light competition Gi and have seen it for 85.

could anyone chime in on where is a good UK based gi supplier and any opinions on other gi's to buy.

    any help appreciated.

    Thanks

Faixa Rua Classico (1.6kg which is, I think, lighter than the Koral) available here for 60 + P&P... http://www.faixarua.co.uk/shop/

Best gi I own; also have a Vulcan, two Atamas, a Faixa Rua doubleweave and used to have a Keiko Raca which I've recently given away.

A2 leve is 1.5kg according to a post from the man himself on the EFN forum.

I got a Manto patch and a FAIXO RUA Classico, both are great Gi s, the faixo rua is a bit cheaper and has no patches except for a stipe across shoulders so would probably suit judo better. You get a good service from Faixo rua and some good emails and advice.

Keiko Raca from me. No seriously. If you want a Gi for both then a few of the guys whear Fighting films gi's. They are quite heavy though. Faxia have good reviews and not many patches so prob OK for Judo. Black eagle are good but Patched up to the max.

    Hey Suley,

As others have said on here, Faixa Rua do a very good quality gi for around 70 inc postage, though you could probably pop down to Hammersmith and pick one up from the Carlson guys and save yourself the postage costs. If you're planning on doing some Judo too, then pick up the white one. The patches on the shoulders aren't huge and can be removed if the Judo school aren't keen on them (Judo doesn't go in for all the branding).

Black Eagle are also based in the UK, but from what I've seen their gis are much heavier then the Faixas (even though BE have lighten the weave), and frankly I think they're pretty ugly looking too.

The Koral light is an awesome gi, very comfortable and quick to dry, but due to it's thinness I wouldn't be all that confident that it would hold up all that well if I was using it for Judo a couple of times a week (plus the fabric isn't Judo legal). But for just BJJ it's great.

Those Adidas ones are fine, will do you great for both BJJ and Judo, but be aware that the top will probably shrink by about 3 inches, so if you're buying one, get it so it's just a little bit too big, then by the time you've washed it 2-3 times it'll be a good fit.

Our new stock is going through customs at the moment and should hopefully be with us shortly.

All our Gold Weave Kimonos have been made using a lighter material, and, yes, they are patched/decorated, less on the standard gold weave compared to the mundials.

However, we also have a single weave model, with no chest or shoulder patches, and just a small embroidered motif on the arm.

I don't have all the weights as yet, as soon as it's here we will weigh all sizes.

However, the Single Weave is about 1.75Kg for the A3. I'd estimate around 1.65Kg for the A2, but that is yet to be confirmed.
