this forum cracks me up, when in doubt start on religion.
i wish people would understand religion is a personal thing for each person, what floats your boat floats your boat.
dont put it down just go with it
The wife and the mother often go to readings and stuff. Personnaly I think its crap but it gives me a chance to play the Xbox. They had 1 bloke once who drew peoples dead relatives, apparantly he drew my Grandad, although it just looked like a nice old man to me. Another woman (Tarot cards)told my wife that she was in a really bad relationship when the wife disagreed the witch woman did a complete U turn and said I was great and she shouldnt let me get away. A bunch of frauds who leach off the vulnerable, in my humble opinion.
With the TV broadcasting we get in America from the UK, it portrays most British as spiritual or at the least very open minded skeptics. There are many good questions here, though. The one about healings are difficult. Especially for a person who has sick loved one. If one could answer all those, it wouldn’t be for free. He would become the wealthiest televangelist. I wish there was a psychic around to answer them.
That's way too hypothetical a question, but you are basically saying "If there was evidence of something, would you believe in it?".
If I could rule out all other possibilities, the answer is obvious; "Yes, I would believe or consider it possible to an extent dependant on the strength of the evidence".
It's like saying "If you saw a real unicorn (or Unicron, that would be cooler), would you believe in them?". If I could be certain it was real, yeah, otherwise I'd be mental.

The reason I posted that way too hypothetical question is to establish if the debate is winnable. That is to say; will both arguments be listened to? If not; then it no longer stays a debate, but rather, some dictatorship of what is true and what is not. I've argued about several points where the other person won't accept my argument because they had already made up their mind (in that case it was about Muay Thai and Kung Fu). If somebody can be convinced by first hand account of something then great, but if you had replied "No - I'd simply be mad and seek treatment and never believe it" then this particular thread would be pointless for debating against you because having a first hand encounter of something is about as true as it gets... unless you are mad and need treatment of course.
"Awww, so you lost darling - but it's the taking part that counts" My Mum... thanks for nothing Mum.
This seems highly relevant... http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/20...tical-thinking
