You probably put your body under a little stress and switch energy systems. To run and burn fat as your energy source you'd need to be incredibly fit and running very slowly...
I'm talking about no more than a brisk walk...
Running will burn calories...but your energy source will switch...
Moderate exercise is the last thing you should be doing to burn fat...it doesn't burn fat...it doesn't release the fat burning hormones...and it does wear down your muscles.
Much better to do high intensity work (which is more efficient at burning calories anyway) to release the hormones....and low intensity work that purely burns fat...
Moderate exercise should be limited to sport's specific work I feel...
