Rio gets 2016 Olympics
In a bigger upset than Serra over St. Pierre, Rio was awarded the 2016 Olympics today. They were considered the weakest bid behind Madrid, Tokyo, and Chicago.
Going to be a huge two years for Brazil. World Cup in 2014 and then the Olympics in 2016. Impressive.

Damn I thought Chicago would get it, I went there about a year ago and they'd left big plots of land free for their 2016 Olympic campaign. Seemed like they were pretty certain they'd get it.

Some people are saying that Barack Obama showing up hurt the Chicago bid more than it helped it. Because he was there for just a few hours, and left before voting started, it seemed to some like a mere business obligation to some, more than him really wanting to bring the games to Chicago. Just showed up to make an appearance.

I think that will be on the cards. How big a sport is BJJ in Brazil compared to other sports. Obviously football is first but how far behind is BJJ ?
obama is a tool , so glad rio won it.
