dont do all that in one session, if you get together 3 times a week, get one of the stand up guys to take session, pads/drills/spar one day, have the judo players take the second session clinch/ground techniques/drilling/rolling and then put it altogether on the third day. MMA drills/sparring

agree with keeping the conditioning out with the skills sessions, but make sure the conditioning is specific to the MMA sessions

    good luck.

I've seen that original class plan a million times and I'm amazed that so few others pick up on it.

It reads well, in that it includes all ranges, working inwards as the 'fight' progresses, ie strikes, clinch work, takedown and finally groundwork but it can be a massive shock to the system when in reality the fight you're preparing for doesn't run to schedule.

After a few weeks of running the class in typical order, reverse the ranges and see what happens to your game. After 30 minutes of competitive rolling you'll have to totally rethink your striking cos the shots you were throwing so sweetly a week ago have all gone to shit cos its the first time you've ever punched with forearm pump, stiffening legs or just the strange feeling of working upright again after hitting the deck.

Same with take-down defense drills & pressure tests, Great at the start of the session when you've got fresh legs to sprawl with, just try them at the end of the session when you're running on empty.

Not picking holes in the original session, just a warning to spice shit up every once in a while to shock the fighting vehicle (yourself) into handling the occasional nasty suprise as a matter of course....
