    [QUOTE=Jay;479058]How it should be.

    If striking to the face is a big issue, MMA is probably not a sport that you should continue with if we're being brutally honest. Submission grappling, BJJ, wrestling are all viable alternatives.

    I dont really feel the need to fight in front of crowds which is why i am entereing the MMA and not doing shows as such. I want to compete for myself not to impress anyone else (I am not good enough for a start) I've been doing MA for a few years and its good to see if you have picked up the techniques and whatnot and its a bloody great way to keep in shape (injuries aside)I don't actually want to give people a right kicking in like some people in my class. As for doing bjj and submission wrestling that in itself is further removed from no headshots than pro rules. I like the kicking aspect and also i would like to add that getting punched in the ribs guts while trying to armbar someone is very very,very different beast to just bjj work anyone who has done both will tell you and GnP might as well be another sport alltogether most of the white and blue belt BJJ goes out of the window once soimeone is punching the shiz out of your face lol.
    As i said before i dont care what it is called it doesnt have to be MMA if some guys are so precious about that title. (lets face it no-one outside of the community knows what MMA is anyway they only know UFC and cage fighting lol.

    like someone said on here no problem with people fighting with the rules they want if someone wants to call me a pussy for fighting no headshots the Im a pussy i couldnt give a monkeys my missus doesn't want me to have a mashed up face and come to think of it dont either.

    That was a very honest and straiht forward post.
    Well done young man!!!
    I respect your mature and positive attitude towards the sport.
    Life and martial arts are about choices. I think its a good idea that there is a division for people who dont want to fight with headshots to compete in.
    Me personally , headshots all the way but I would say that as I am a kickboxer. If i were to have MY way there would be limited time on the ground but thats another discussion entirely.

    thanks for that I thought I was going to getting torn apart!

    I have the upmost respect for the people who fight under pro rules its a very tough sport maybe the toughest and your right it is a lot harder. If I were younger or had a different job/girlfriend then maybe I would have a try at that but at the moment I am happy with what I do. I dont go around telling everyone I am a cage fighter (although some of my dickhead friends have and got me in all kinds of bother!)
    However back to head shots I do occassionally spar with the guys using headshots but in class but the guys know I that I don't go full on. I still get brusies and that but I would be a mess if they went full out.

    Kicks to the head are not that easy to land anyway unless either they have a poor guard or you are super flexible.
    Excellent point about the Gloves i think.

    yeh but there are guys who can get the kicks to thehead so if the rules stated no head kicks atleast then everyone wld know where they stand i dont like the idea of wearing shin gaurds in am fights either as they can get in the way of grapleing imo but i spose tht is personel prefrence

    LOL Good points about the head kicks!!! I should know better on that one. I for one LOVE to land high kicks.
    If punches to the head are allowed so should kicks be really, in my opinion.
