Anyone else get a bit frustrated by this? Right now I can only really afford to do a couple of sessions of training a week, and it is sooo frustrating when the instructor decides to spend half the class doing solo exercises I could have done by myself at home. Arghh I want to do technique and sparing in that precious mat time, I already did my allotted running for this week.

Having said that it would not be a problem if one knows in advance what the session will be in advance. If its going to be more of a cardio workout session then say so on the timetable, or tell me in advance and I can plan my week's training. Just occasionally the masochist in me does enjoy a session with a fitness nazi. Just dont change the focus of the class on a whim.
