    Default Wrestling or Jiu Jitsu

Is it more important to be good at wrestling or Jiu Jitsu?

If someone was starting out with no skill set at all, what would you suggest they focus on first and why?

    Please discuss.

If you wanted to eventually fight pro rules mma ( which im pretty sure thats what OHarra meant ) then IMO starting wrestling first would be more beneficial. Not only will it build more strength and cardio due to the nature of the sport rather than the slower paced BJJ but will give you a good base and a good idea of the general positions you'd end up in during an mma fight. GnP will come naturally as well as you're constantly putting people on their backs.

People who have excelled in wrestling tend to catch on to BJJ quickly, it doesnt work the other way round though from what I have experienced. Again just my opinion but I wish I had started wrestling sooner.
