Kimbo vs Mitrione Set For UFC 113 In Montreal

FiveOuncesofPain.com has recently learned from sources extremely close to the situation that Kimbo Slice next’s fight is expected to take place at UFC 113 against fellow TUF 10 heavyweight, Matt Mitrione.

While sources close to Mitrione have said he has yet to be approached about the fight, the heavy handed duo are considered highly likely to face off on May 1 from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Kimbo will be looking to improve upon his December decision victory over Houston Alexander, while Mitrione is hoping to make it two in a row in the Octagon himself with a TUF 10 Finale knockout over Marcus “Big Baby” Jones.

Other match-ups rumored for UFC 113 include a light heavyweight championship rematch between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, along with the highly anticipated grudge match between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans, although neither bout has been made official by the promotion as of this writing.

I thought Mitrione looked terrible, but he'll have a decent amount of hype behind him as being the man who retired Marcus Jones, who was a perennial contender to win the show. Hopefully Kimbo by first round KO and/or a less reserved, underwhelming performance than his previous fight aganist Houstin Alexander.

Why? I can't think of a single better fight for Kimbo in the HW division right now. It's a guy loads of casual fans know, has recently scored a big KO, but has little enough experience and skills rudimentary enough for Kimbo to shine. I don't think there's really anyone else they have signed that he could do that with.

If they gave guys like Neil Grove, Neil Wain, Tim Hague & Johnny Hendricks (etc) another try, then they could all be good fights for one of the two fighters, but they probably don't have enough name recognition to be putting on a PPV with the biggest draw in MMA.

Apparently so, aye. His striking was woeful, but he was a big guy with a decent looking ground game.. seems like he could've maybe made the necessary adjustments to fight for a bit longer than he did, but he's 36 and maybe just didn't feel he had time to learn enough to be a top level competitor.

If he has, then good riddance. At the time he went into TUF he was still relatively new to the game, was he just thinkingTUF would be the be all and end all of his career? Did he think that was all he needed to do?
