    Default Fighters Wanted

Some of you may or may not know of my plans for 2010.

I am in the closing stages of presenting the first of many exciting new events. As has been discussed previously here on CW. I intend to produce a watered down version of our current MMA style event.

To simplify, it will be a NON submission based platform, focusing solely on a mix of stand up but allowing throws take downs & G n P only, any attempt at a ground sub will simply force the ref to stand back up the combatants.

The round times will be reduced to 3 mins due to the predicted increase of work rate by the fighter. Each event will feature 3 x 4 man tourney's.

We are considering 3-4 max weight catagories, again to give this the challenge style feels, displayed by the early UFC's.

This whole project is being offered to fighters of any oragin & background, it is not specificaly based on current MMA fighters, you are simply invited to join in if you wish. We are even anticipating general public who feel they can hang with a fighter to enter.

Above is a brief summary & I am sure you will want to know more details. For those who are genuinely interested in learning more & or competing, please e-mail me on the following dougie.t@live.com
Naturally I will engage as always in debate here @ CW.

The purse structure for this event is currently set @ the following, but as the popularity of this new event catches on, we are confident in increasing this purse structure further.

    3 x 4 man tourney's = 3 x prelim runner ups each recieve £200 each. 3 x final runner ups recieve £500 each. 3 x Final winners recieve £1500 each.

So if you are interested in competeing in this or any future "Ultimate Knockout Challenge" events, again please send your CV & your interest to my e-mail addy

no offence but i think that format sounds rank.

why would people just not go and watch muay thai instead, only thing your missing is the gnp, if someone was in a tricky situation in gnp why not just go for a sub and get it stood back up?

to me this sounds like something chuck norris was doing 20 years ago.

to me, it sounds like mma for the masses, a lot of people dont understand grappling, and even when you do it can be hard to see whats going on live. i dont see the problem with it, its just another option for people

how would you view it if someone was set up for a triangle with the idea of trapping his head and arm for strikes rather than the tap out?

if i had a triangle locked in and was striking the face would i be forced to stand up?

Thankyou for your observation, & clearly no offence taken.

However, lets explore your thought process, accepting back in the beginning we were devoid of computers public forums e,t,c.

I can't help thinking, when boxing for instance was first put to the public, I'm wondering if anyone thought it was a rank idea or barbaric, same annalogy applies to all other combat sports that were first launched, hey fuck even MMA, from my recolection peoples general opinion is that it was a JOKE.

History lesson for you bud & to back up my claims. I & a mere handful of others first presented "Caged" MMA to the UK back in 2001. I can catagorically confirm that 80% of the people I spoke to (a) did'nt have a clue & (b) lol @ the very suggestion of it. I'm glad now that I did not take thier critiscms seriouslly, just as sadly I won't take yours lol. I think I know a little more about this than you my friend.

    Default My questions

On a percentage scale, how sure are you these events will take place, or are you awaiting response to fathom the interest and finalise? Also; what sort of date do you envision, and where? Thanks, Will.
"Awww, so you lost darling - but it's the taking part that counts" My Mum... thanks for nothing Mum.

I am 150% confirming these events will take place, we have penciled the launch to be March-April 2010 in County Durham, we have already secured the venue. The finances & backing are already in place. We have sufficient fighters to launch in the North East, am simply giving heads up to anyone else who wishes to be involved.
Be under no illusions, I am not looking to this forum for further support interest e,t,c. I am merely offering my platform for those that may be up for a real fight!

but by putting the triangle on he is not aiming to submit his opponent, he is aiming to control him and hit him in the face. He is not "attempting a submission" hence no stand up by the ref, right??

the rules dont make sense, they can not be enforced safely and sensibly and this idea should be scrapped. just an observation...
