Default Ne waza session with Steve Gawthorpe

Tonight at Wolverhampton Judo Club we has a guest instructor , his name is Steve Gawthorpe.

He is a red and white belt :O and his groundwork is seriously immense!

He spent an hour and half showing us some very nice techniques!

He is apparently gonna be coming to the club on a regular basis to help with the ground training , this is a great thing!!

Has anyone here ever trained with Steve?

Yes I've trained with him and he is a ne waza legend.

Me and Dickie taught a seminar alongside Steve Gawthorpe and
Ray Stevens focussing on Ne Waza to
    British Judo Association Coaches.
    Steve showed some awesome techniques.

Out of interest, if I'm attending BJJ am I not learning ne waza by another name? Or is ne waza something quite different?

bjj's ground game is far more in depth than judo's .
I find I'm more "into" the ground game than the stand-up so I'm taking a break from judo at the minute to pursue bjj
