Nice post J-Sho, I'm a lot wiser on the issue after reading it. Now I understand why it isn't in the Olympics.
contrary to popular belief, there hasn't been a demo sport at the olympics since 1992 (which were pelota, roller hockey and taekwondo - which had already been a demonstration sport in 1988).

The chinese ran a parallel wushu world championships to try to get that sport more publicity in 2008.
I dont think it will get into the Olympics partly due to it not being a good spectator sport for the uninformed, and partly due to the BJJ Federation not being run by an ellected board (top dog being el Presedente for life Carlinos Gracie).
