Also powerlifting is still a very specific sport that while may come close to approaching the best measure of "strength" (a better measure than bodybuiding say) is still too specific, for instance world strongest man competitors have different physical attributes.
Agreed, but is he training for MMA? I dunno, I don't know who he is I have probably missed other posts.

If he is training for MMA then it's a massively complex question and he's best off discussing it with his MMA coach and a good S&C coach.

Carling and Randleman circuits are meant to be good. I hate weights though.

Who ever said dont look at bodybuilding.com hasnt had a good look round forum, the work out section isnt all about 10 rep max, theres also alot of strong man routines like this, a friend at work uses this, he a good wrestler but hasn't trained for a long time, but has huge size, and deadlifts over 400lbs,

www.sugdenbarbell.com is where it's at in the UK.

If you don't know exactly what you are looking for, bodybuilding.com is terrible. It's mostly young teens doing crap work outs and preaching fads and giving advice they aren't qualified to do so.

There are much better boards. I'd recommend www.ironaddicts.com they have excellent advice and stickies. Also they only allow advice to be given by people who can bench min 300lbs, squat 400lbs, deadlift 500lbs. So you know your advice is from the field and not some recycled nonsense.

I can deadlift 400lbs, i'm <78kg, 5'6 and not that big (i'm on a diet to lose fat at present) nor do i consider myself especially strong. I re-iterrate. Check out ironaddicts over body building if you want good advice
