You can always get a good second hand camera from the London Camera Exchange (not based in just london) , I have used them before quite a few times.

yep , they do body's and lenses. I purchased a secondhand canon 300 dslr from them quite a few years back and I still have it now. still works fine. it was a good price, the entire kit

maybe sign up to a few photography forums, you will pick up some second hand ones there.

Careful you don't get one with one million shutter releases though! As long as it's been looked after and has a pretty low figure, you'll probably be fine. Buying second hand is always going to be a risk though. I got a Nikon D70 a couple of years ago second hand and it's still going fine
