judo in mma
im new to the mma scene ive been training now for abt 4 months but had 2 months out due to a operation on my neck.
but ive gotta alot of catching up to do ive started doing judo as well as bjj and mma and ive started doing mauy thi lessons would judo help me out in the cage? and whats the differents in bjj and judo?
While you have been going to Judo and BJJ classes have you not seen the difference?
Not being an arse, just curios that you can see the differences and why?
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.
i love judo but the truth is wrestlings better, to the extent that thay have had to change the rules of judo to stop wrestlers putting on a gi and destroying judoka's in judo comps. im not trying to suggest judo's a complete wast of time but for mma wrestling is king.
If you feel that way mate why are you continuing with judo. Each martial art has its own strengths in mma. The great thing about mma is the fact that you can get somebody who does kickboxing and wrestling against a bjj and muay thai fighter. The mixture is what makes the sport great, if you feel that wrestling is better than judo, keep the wrestling up man. Why not?
If one discipline works better for you than others then stick with it IMO. No use in going to ones that don't.
How you expect to run with the wolves come night when you spend all day sparring with the puppies
Facepalm for you...

If the Judo coach you have access to is better than the wrestling coach you have access to, then the Judo coach would be my choice. With just modifying your grips so they can be done without the gi, Judo techniques can, and do, work very well in MMA.
However, all things being equal, wrestling would be the better choice IMO.
Everyone has a personal opinion.. and I suppose it's good to try out different things and see what suits you best. Judo is an amazing martial art and can be very helpfull for your MMA, nothing is the BEST for mma it's all about what's BEST for YOU..
hey plp cheers for the replys..u have been a big help ive searched every where and there are no wrestling gyms in my area so ive decided that its best that i know abit of everything so im gonna keep at judo for abit they have showed me some amazing stuff if i come across a wrestling gym in the near future then ill give it a go,but at the mo im learning mma, bjj, mauy thai, boxing, judo and grappling so i think that im safe with ideas lolol..
again cheers every one.
i do judo because i love it and have trained in it for all my life. pretty much the formula that has worked in mma is muay thai, boxing, wrestling and bjj, there are a few exceptions but the formally mentioned combo of arts have been proven time and time again to be the most successful,to the extent that pretty much every fighter trains them.
