Here is a 10 minute stretching routine to develop flexibility
and try to decrease the chance of injury in BJJ.
For best results warm up thoroughly first and make sure you are
sweating before commencing the routine.
Stretching cold is dangerous.
In the clip shown i took one very deep breath and exhaled in each position.
This meant the routine lasted 10 minutes and is perfect before BJJ training.
If you are going to use this routine as a work out (and train BJJ at a different
time) i would recommend taking 4 deep breaths in each position.
To turn it into more of a Yoga routine i put some music on and hold each position for 10 deep breaths. This will make the routine last 1 hour.
Make sure you inhale until your lungs are completely full of air and expanded and when you exhale push all of the air out of your lungs until
they are empty.
When you breathe like this while stretching the expansion of your lungs will gently put pressure on your internal organs (Liver,Kidneys etc) to encourage them to expel old blood and engorge with new fresh blood when you change position. Its like an oil change for your body.
The video will also be a chance for you to have a peek at the new Carlson Gracie London gym.
