i think the argies had a penal colony there for about 5 years, its not in argentina at all. about 300 miles from their coast. a few countries tried to settle it but couldnt and the brits managed successfully.

Well, I guess it depends if you agree with the United Nations. They've been trying to mediate this since at least 1973. Probably even before then; if I took the time to jog my memory. Unfit one - I heard this too, from some people in the Royal Navy in a pub. What I heard, is that the oil reserve was thought to be the size of North America - bigger than they are making out - just absolutely huge, and until recently, the methods just weren't around to be able to get to it - but apparently that's all to change soon. Let's hope it don't pop a leak!
