    Default Judo is hard

I went to my first Judo class last night and man was it hard. The guys in the club were great, not too much (what I would describe as) bullsh*t. After a warm up I went with another beginer and we were shown a couple of hold downs, then it was me and him back to back and have a go, great stuff. I always knew it would be hard but I guess as with a lot of things you have to give it a go to see truly how hard it is. Can't wait to go back next week and looking forward to not aching as well.

Also whilst I was there, it was in a large sports centre with other martial arts clubs too. I saw posters for the usual kick boxing, kung fu, tae kwon do etc but saw 1 poster which particularly interested me. It was for a kickboxing club which uses and teaches techniques from kickboxing, kung fu, karate, filipino stick fighting and .................... wait for it .............................. you guessed it .............................. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

i find judo is more brute stregnth and force whereas bjj is a more flowing and technical game, i did judo for years when i was younger and found the stregnth it gave me helps me grapple, maintain dominant positions well and turn take downs into sacrifice throws to my benefit. but it did not the same amount of skils to finish fights via submision.

    humble opinion

This is somewhat relevant to the topic of strength vs technique

I would but I fear my 1 Judo lesson is no match for their mix of Kickboxing, BJJ and Stick Fighting.

In groundfighting your statement is true, but then any judoka can argue the reverse and state that bjj doesn't have any real stand-up game and is therefore technically deficient.

Technique is what scores under a relevant rule-set; it is specific to the game.
