This guy has started Muay Thai classes not far from me and I'm thinking about going. He claims to have competed at a fairly high level but I was just wondering if anyone's heard of him?

There was a nak muay a couple of years back by that name. Dont think he was a champion tho. Ask for a video reference before training!
"Awww, so you lost darling - but it's the taking part that counts" My Mum... thanks for nothing Mum.
as above
also ask who taught him in the UK and who he taught (a better sign)
also which camp/instructors he trained with in Thailand.....(most - like ALL - people who do MT will be able to bore you to death with who they trained with or were trained by and the myriad of stories they have from being in Thailand)
his fight experience doesnt mean much ie he may be an awesome trainer but not a good fighter - however he has made some claims which are easily backed up.
1. which belt did he win ie weight, title and organisation (lots of people are 'champions' but it then transpires they were champs in karate, kung fu, kickboixng etc not MT - which is cool but why mislead)
2. re representing GB, muay thai only has country representation as a team per sey in the amateurs (still plenty of pros in that though) just means you wear padding and score under AM rules - again he should be able to say
" i went to the IFMAs of 2009 with coach x, alongside x, y, z"
just email and ask him to answer - sure he will be happy to share the above.

OK thanks guys. I have to say I'm getting some bad vibes. Don't think I'll bother.
He has been running a club in Battersea for donkeys years; called Chang Mai Tigers; apparently he wasn't a bad fighter in his day; although I never saw him as it was before I got into Muay Thai; so it must have been 15 odd years ago.
TBH the majority of his fighters weren't that well schooled and the only decent ones I remember was a girl named Tania Daddy and another girl named Jo who now trains at Scorpians Gym with Mark Wakeling.
I wouldn't train there personally.
