Coheed and Cambria.
In terms of live performance, entertainment and tightness I can't think of another band I've seen that come close. Story of the Year and Saosin also deserve honorable mentions.

16-bit for life
So thanks to robs post and my friend asking are there any bands I want to see who i've not already seen, i decided to make a comprehensive list of all the bands i've seen live.
Wikipedia is a godsend because it just lists every band from each year for festivals i've been to, then i went through my box of gig tickets. This list is getting silly with just the "big" signed bands and not putting down any local no mark gigs
There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather.

That's all I can think of before I have to go and have dinner (only counting festival bands if I actually sat through most of their set/bands anyone might actually have heard of)
The enemy are good, as are the Red hot chill peppers, they forgot more than these new bands know.
RHCP are the one of the worst bands I've seen live.

Best live bands I've ever seen for different reasons.
Radiohead, because they're just all round amazing and sound even better live than on record.
The Mars Volta because you never know what you're going to get from them but you do know it'll be musicianship of the highest order.
Pitchshifter for their live sound and energy.
Sikth, probably the best heavy band I've ever seen live. When you listen to their records you think there's no chance they can play all of that perfect live and then they effortlessly do. Well, did until they split up.
Like all things, it's a matter of opinion though. Someone earlier mentioned Coheed and Cambria. I think they're rubbish and saw them live at a festival and really didn't enjoy it. But that was just because I really don't like their music so it's difficult to say my opinion counts on their live performance.
