    Default Randy Couture-BJJ Black Belt

Congratulations to Handy Couture on his BJJ Black Belt awarded after his perfect execution of a BJJ strategy against a dangerous opponent at UFC 118.

Take down, attain dominant position, control, submission.

Apparently it's not a BJJ black belt. It's a Black Belt in his grappling coach's system, but not a BJJ black belt.

    Just FYI. ^_^

    Take care,

Is this a real black belt, or is it one of those no gi type black belts that Rolles Gracie got so lambasted for giving to Rashad Evans?

Either way, congrats to Captain America. An absolute master of MMA!!

Neil Malanson isnt graded in BJJ I dont think, he is a catch wrestler and Judoka under Gokor/ Parisyan/ Lebell, but he has also trained a lot in BJJ.

The black belt is in his own grappling system that he trains the Xtreme Couture guys in.

oli i believe that u are correct. I seen a video on line a while ago and they where offering the oppurtunity to grade in a nogi system at xtreme couture. I was a new system introduced and something that was rolled out for the nogi grapplers at the gym.

Upon seeing the black belt presentation i also assumed that it was in this new system and what a person to present that first black belt to!!

But any man who can hold j'acre off in a sub grappling match has to have some serious ground pedigree. At least of blackbelt standing.

    That video is awesome!

He's got a blackbelt in No-gi grappling, as opposed to Rashad who does have a BJJ blackbelt despite not training in a Gi (and never having attempted a submission in the UFC career).....
