Default What do you have to do to be part of a fight team??

As the title says. I know some gyms have their own fight team and also just gym members as well with the hopes of one day possibly fighting. But my question is, what do you actually have to do within your gym to be accepted as part of the fight team?

I'm asking this because I know there has been a lot of people for there own reasons moving gyms etc. And all of a sudden they're sig's have changed as they THINK they are now automatically part of the gyms fight team because they may have fought before etc so class themselves as good enough to be part of the team.

Obviously there are high profile cases like Paul Kelly moving from wolfslair to kaobon who he now represents but is there things like this on a more domestic level?

Is it just the case that you move gym and your instantly part of the fight team within that gym or do you have to do anything in particular to be accepted as part of it?

I would say if you are a fighter (any level - Am, SPro, Pro) and you go to that gym then you are a member of their fight team.

It's like if you work in Tesco's but want to work in Asda as there are better opportunities (in your eyes) to progress yourself then you may decide to get a job with Asda. Once you work for Asda you then become a member of the Asda team and are therefore not a member of the Tesco team!

    Simples.

In this case I think it probably depends on how the fighter want's to represent themselves and if they take the advice of the coaches of the fight team!

You can't have a guy jump ship from one team with 5 losses and join and represent another team automatically as that would drag down the stats, reputation and meaning of that fight team.

Could you not be part of a fight team without actually fighting? E.g training/sparring with other fighters leading up to fights to help them prepare?

it's up to the people involved in each individual fight team to decide what their criteria is - there is no general answer

In our gym if you are an active fighter you are part of the fight team

if your not a fighter your considered a student

At lanark MMA you have to walk into a pub and fight 10 men with your bare hands, there allowed any foreign object that comes to hand.

Well I train with the guys at battlefield and they have been extremely welcoming offering me tons of help and advice on a huge range of things.

While I am obviously aware I am not part of the fight team I do feel part of the "family" of the gym. Should I one day develop enough skills that would allow me to fight I'd be more than happy to be part of the great pool of fighters already there.

As it stands just learning and being around these guys is enough to have me there most night in the week.

I think the term "student" is perfect as all I'm doing is soaking in everything I can.
