I went to a talk by Howard Marks many years ago at Leeds University. He explained why it was banned years ago. Some professor was asked to investigate it or summat, he came up with the fact it caused two psychological problems:
Acute Hashishism: causing the user to laugh uncontrollably and have a manic smile
Chronic Hashishism: causing the user to become forgetful, lazy etc
That was enough for them to agree to ban it and it has been banned ever since
I read his book a few years back, awesome story and a crazy life
If you go to his Tapas restaurant in Leeds he comes out and chats to the guests. We should do it for a xmas night out!!
