    Default BJJ question

Is it fair/possible to get to purple belt level without ever competing?
    (edit)
I know it's possible is it fair?

Sorry removing all posts as it makes me seem like a troll, been looking at this forum for a long time and don't want to come over bad, just realised what I said is a bit controversial (not on purpose)

    Yes.

It's usually quicker if you compete but still yes. If a guy is young enough and sufficiently injury free then I would recommend competing, if nothing else but to get experience of testing yourself under pressure.

Anyhow. You might as well spit it out. Who in your blue belt opinion got unfairly promoted to purple belt by a highly experience black belt.

What if they've only competed once or twice and the pressure has got to them and they've not fared too well? Would it still be possible if they gained the relevant level of knowledge/expertise appropriate would you still grade them?

    Hi Gareth

They would have to compete some more and learn to deal with the pressure.

    Example then ??
