BAMMA Beatdown: Top KOs & Subs
To get you ready for BAMMA 5: Daley vs Shirai in Manchester on Feb 26th, take a look back at some of the best BAMMA action so far.
BAMMA’s Best KOs
Tom Watson vs John Maguire, BAMMA 1
What better way to top off BAMMA’s inaugural event than with a crunching KO? John Maguire is known as one of the toughest fighters in the UK, but future BAMMA champ Tom Watson poured on the pressure over the course of three brutal rounds, finally catching Maguire with a combination that prompted the referee to save him from further punishment. It was a clinical display of striking talent that led to Watson’s status as the organisation’s top middleweight.
Result: Watson via TKO (Punches) 2:47, Round 3
Rob Sinclair vs Daniel Weichel, BAMMA 3
Defending BAMMA lightweight champion Rob Sinclair was facing one of the toughest tests of his career in veteran German fighter Daniel Weichel. A tough and well-travelled mixed martial artists, Weichel wanted the fight on the floor. Sinclair was only too happy to oblige, but instead of get drawn into a technical grappling match, he ruthlessly pounded away at the challenger for a first round stoppage win.
Result: Sinclair via TKO (Punches) 4:03, Round 1
John Phillips vs James Zikic, BAMMA 4
Welshman John Phillips is one of the biggest hitters in the UK, as he proved when he took out the tough-as-teak James Zikic. Zikic hadn’t been stopped in over ten years and had shared the ring with luminaries of the sport such as Vitor Belfort and Cyborg Santos. Phillips ignored off the Londoner’s reputation and implemented his gameplan – beat the boxer at his own game. A brutal left hook to the liver had Zikic reeling, and Phillips finished with a crunching blow to the temple to seal it. A frightening display of power.
Result: Phillips via TKO (Punches) 1:34, Round 1
Paul Daley fights Yuya Shirai on BAMMA 5, February 26th 2011 at the MEN Arena in Manchester.
