Kevin Mitchell to retire? Empty threat, surely.

Mitchell, 26, is provisionally lined up to fight European lightweight champion John Murray in April.

But he is yet to agree to the purse being offered by Frank Warren.

The BBC understands that he is being offered less than half the fee he got for his last fight - a defeat by Australian Michael Katsidis.

"Kevin is tied in to a five-fight deal with Frank Warren, which means he can't go and box elsewhere. He won't accept the fight unless the money is dramatically improved, which could leave him with nowhere to go," a source close to the fighter told the BBC.

Just seems like he's playing hardball with Warren. Surely they spoke about money when he signed his 5 fight deal?

lol yeah, agreed with both, Warren must be great to work for when you're smashing over-matched opponents and he's buying you cars, but that can't last forever.

He didn't do the business against Katsidis so he can't expect to get paid that much again.

He cant retire before the Katsidis fight he was working on building sites labouring after he admitted he had the blew the money he had already earnt as a pro.
