    Format

With less than 40 days to go to the event we are pleased to announce that following a consultation process we will be keeping the repecharge system in place for all competitors. Absolute divisions will be limited to those who medal in their division. Anyone in a division of 2 people will compete in a best of 3 series, anyone in a division of 3 people will compete round robin and for divisions larger than that your standard double elimination format applies. Lose at any time and your still eligible to fight for the bronze, lose one more time and your out.

    Womens Divisions

In order to encourage more female competitors we have dropped the price for all female competitors to 10, we also have a core of female competitors and it would be nice for them to get a few new people to compete against, so if you know any female BJJ'ers who are up for competing pass this message along

    Sponsorship

We are pleased to announce the first of our sponsors for the event, Nightmare Fightwear. For more details see their website.

With 4 weeks to the Event we would like to bring the following to the attention of all competitors and coaches:-

    1) Rules. Competitors must ensure they are fully aware of the rules as laid out by the IBJJF. If you are not and break the rules then there is no comeback. The referee's decision is final, regardless of what witnesses or video shows, the rules are very clear on this issue. If there are any issues regarding the rules that you are not clear about ask the referee as he gives instructions. Anyone using agressive or threatening behaviour towards an official will be unable to continue in the event and if in a match that would normally entitle them to a medal automatically forfeit that medal. Any coaches breaking these rules will be asked to leave the premises and if they refuse all members of their team will be DQ'd. I don't expect this to be an issue though as we have had no trouble like this at any of our previous events.

    2) Access to competition areas. We have a new layout for the hall. Competition areas will be behind barriers and will only be accessed by officials, competitors (once their division has been called) and one coach for each competitor. Coach tickets are available free of charge on the registration page.

We are now less than 2 weeks away from the event which is proceeding as planned.
    Here's some important information: -

Final closing date for entries is Saturday the 16th of April, all entries must be made via the eventbrite site however if anyone has any problems with using that then please contact me and we can sort something out.
We hope to have initial brackets and schedule up at some point of Sunday the 17th of April. All competitors will be emailed the link to these brackets to make sure they are listed in the correct division and under the correct team. As always we will never knowingly match 2 competitors from the same academy in the first round of the competition (or if possible before the final). It may sometimes happen in smaller divisions (i.e 3 in a division) or if there are a lot of competitors from one academy in a division making it unavoidable or if team names haven't been entered correctly.
Masters & seniors divisions will run dependant on entries, if there are less than 3 people registered they will be merged with the next age category down for that weight and belt rank (e.g. if there is only 1 senior entered but there is a masters division running the senior entrant would be put in to the masters bracket).
Absolutes as mentioned previously will be medallists only and will obviously need to be drawn up on the day. Again we will try and avoid matching up people from the same academy in the early rounds whenever possible. Absolute is single elimination.
If anyone has any other questions then please feel free to contact me.

We have added an option for participants to pay on the door as a few people have contacted me saying they don't have PayPal or are having some difficulty with it. To use this register as normal on the site and select the Pay At Door option.

4 days to go until registration closes!
