    Default Arm bar tailbone/cocyix injury

I have a problem, where I often fall on my tailbone when sitting down for armbars, and I get quite a lot of pain. I don't know if this is something I'm doing wrong, or if I'm just sensitive in that area, or if this happens to other people as well.

Has anyone else experienced this and are there any tips out there to avoid it?

For info - I have just started training MMA again this weekend after taking about 18 months away from MMA training,. however when I used to train before I often picked up this injury.

sounds like you might have a problem with your coccyx.

I've just had a look In the mirror and can see bruising at the base of my spine, so it seems I've bruised my coccyix. is there anything that could be causing easy bruising then, or could it simply be down to me not getting the technique right or even the density of the mats?

Difficult to diagnose over the internet. If it's something that keeps happening, I'd say it's worth speaking to a professional - a good osteopath should be able to help you out.

might also be worth adapting your arm bar so it doesnt effect you back....maybe attack the arm bar belly down????

this saves you having to lean with your back on the floor! also, it alows you to develop your arm bar!

    goodluck!
